PJSC TransContainer and the Government of the Kaliningrad Region concluded an agreement on cooperation in the fields of the SPIEF-2019 within the framework of the project for the construction of a transport and logistics center (TLC) on the territory of the Chernyakhovsk industrial park. The TLC in Chernyakhovsk is intended for transshipment of transit containers from the Russian standard gauge (1,520 mm) to the European (1,435 mm) and in the opposite direction. The processing capacity of the TLC should be at least 500 thousand TEU (equivalent to a twenty-foot container). “Transit traffic in recent years has been the most dynamic segment of the container rail market. The growth of traffic imposes relevant requirements for the development of cross-border infrastructure, container terminals. In this regard, TransContainer PJSC considers the TLC in Chernyakhovsk as part of the infrastructure that will allow for increasing transit volumes, ”said Vyacheslav Sarayev after signing it. “Railway transit is one of the most important and most promising areas for the region’s transport complex. This confirms the already successful experience of cargo transportation in a container train from Europe via Chernyakhovsk in the Kaliningrad region to China. We are pleased that now Russia's largest intermodal container operator joins this work as our official partner, ”said Anton Alikhanov, in turn.
